About Hidden Object Emily’s Case

A girl has vanished and the search takes you through the interiors of Victorian London — parlours, workshops, streets thick with detail. Each scene comes with a list of things to find, and the case advances as objects turn into clues.

What lifts it above a plain seek-and-find is the zoom. Scenes are larger than the screen, so you pan across them and push in on the corners, and small objects genuinely hide inside the artwork rather than sitting camouflaged against a flat background. Mini-games break up the searching between chapters. The tone is unhurried; this is a game to spend twenty minutes with rather than three.

How to play

Read your objectives, then explore the scene until you have located every listed item. Follow the on-screen prompts to move the story forward. If an object defeats you, the lightbulb on the objectives panel will highlight it or skip a puzzle in exchange for watching an advert.

Controls

  • The mouse wheel zooms in and out; move the pointer to pan around the scene, and click an object to collect it.
  • On a touchscreen, pinch to zoom and drag to shift the view. Landscape is the way to hold it.

Tips

  • Zoom out fully first and read the whole scene as a composition. Objects are often hidden along the edges of the frame, outside the area your eye naturally settles on.
  • Work from the list, not the picture. Searching for one named item is much faster than scanning for anything unusual.
  • Small objects tend to be tucked against similarly coloured furniture — check shelves and mantelpieces twice.
