About Mini Clue Grid
Most word grids ask for a commitment. This one asks for about three minutes. Five short clues, each sitting on its own row of a five-by-five grid — prompts we wrote ourselves, like “a sudden burst of speed” or “a hint that points the way”, with no obscure vocabulary and no abbreviations.
The catch is that the rows do not cross. Each answer stands alone, so there are no shared letters to hand you a head start and no down clues hiding in the columns. What you get instead is five clean deductions and a board that resolves the moment the last one lands. The clues change from day to day, one set built around speed, another around the tools of a small forge.
How to play
Read each clue and type its answer into its row. Every entry is independent, so work them in whatever order the clues allow. Fill all five and check the board.
Controls
- Click an entry field and type; letters are uppercased automatically.
- Each field stops at its answer length, so an overlong guess will not silently truncate.
- The status line reports whether the grid is complete.
Tips
- Play the clues you are surest of first. Nothing crosses, so a locked answer will not feed a letter to its neighbours — but it does shorten the list still left to crack.
- The clues are literal more often than cryptic, so read them plainly before hunting for wordplay.
- When an answer will not come, its length is the strongest hint the board offers; count the squares before you guess.
- A short break is the whole point. If two clues stump you, coming back tomorrow beats brute-forcing the letters.
