About Spider Solitaire
Spider does not work the way Klondike does. Everything happens on the tableau itself, where you assemble descending runs from King down to Ace inside the columns, and a run only leaves the board once it is complete and all one suit. That single rule changes the entire texture of the game.
The suit count is the difficulty dial and it matters more than anything else on offer. At one suit this is a gentle sorting exercise. At two it starts demanding foresight about which column you are prepared to bury. At four it becomes a genuine puzzle, where one careless move can strand a card for the rest of the deal. Undo is available the whole way through.
How to play
Shift cards and ordered groups between columns to expose the face-down cards beneath them. Assemble a full King to Ace sequence in one suit and it clears itself. When no move remains, deal a fresh row from the stock. Clearing every card wins the deal.
Controls
- Drag a card or an ordered group with the left mouse button onto another column.
- Click the stock to deal the next row across the board.
- Undo steps back through recent moves.
- Ten columns need width, so a computer screen serves this far better than a phone.
Tips
- An empty column is worth more than any individual card, because it becomes a workspace.
- On two and four suits, take the move that turns over a face-down card ahead of the move that looks tidier.
- Undo is not cheating here; use it to test whether a line opens before you commit to it.
