About Snake Masters
The arcade original was about reflexes and a rising speed. This takes the same crawling worm and slows it right down, replacing the endless field with a few dozen handcrafted levels that each have exactly one workable route.
The twist is that your body is the puzzle. Every apple you take makes you longer, and that extra length now occupies squares you may have been planning to travel through. Reaching the apple is rarely the difficult part — getting to the exit afterwards, with a body two segments longer than when you started, is what needs thinking about. The special crawling mechanics mean routes that look blocked sometimes are not.
How to play
Steer the worm across the level to reach the apple, then find your way safely to the far side without running into a wall or into your own body. Each stage introduces a fresh layout, and finishing one opens the next.
Controls
- Arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard steer the worm one direction at a time.
- Touch controls are available too, so it plays on a phone as well as a computer, with the level laid out in landscape.
Tips
- Plan the whole route before your first move. Reversing is not an option once the body is behind you.
- Count the segments you will have gained by the time you reach the exit and check that path is still clear at full length.
- Hugging the outer walls keeps the interior open. Coiling in the middle early is what makes later stages unsolvable.
