About Paper Wars: Battles and Upgrades
The whole battlefield is a sheet of paper, and the armies are biro sketches. Underneath the doodle presentation sits a targeting rule worth understanding: you choose a firing point on your own half of the field, and the game mirrors that point onto the enemy side to decide where the projectile lands. Aiming, in other words, is done backwards.
You build a squad before the fight from whatever your arsenal has unlocked, and the number and type of soldiers you can field depends on how far you have upgraded. It can be played against the machine or against another person, and the mirrored aiming makes the two-player version unusually tense — you can watch your opponent’s half and work out what is coming.
How to play
- Pick soldiers from your arsenal at the start of a battle.
- Wait for an attack to charge.
- Click a point on your side of the paper; the shot lands on the mirrored spot opposite.
- Repeat until one side is out of troops, then spend the winnings on upgrades.
Controls
- Mouse driven throughout — click to select soldiers, click the field to fire.
- No touch support here, so use a computer with a proper pointer.
Tips
- Certain soldiers shorten the recharge on specific attacks. Stack those rather than spreading your picks evenly.
- Study the mirror before firing. Aiming near your own edge sends the shot to the far edge opposite.
- Against a friend, vary your firing positions — a predictable pattern is easy to read off the mirrored grid.
