About Xytrian Runner
One input, one axis. Press and the shuttle climbs, release and it sinks. The course keeps arriving and each gap becomes a small calculation about how much hold gets you through without overshooting into the ceiling of the next one.
It sits in the flappy lineage, but the continuous hold changes the feel considerably. You are not tapping out a rhythm so much as modulating a rise, which means short taps for small corrections, longer presses for a real climb, and the discipline to let go early because the ship keeps rising for a beat after you do. Runs are brief and restarts immediate, which is exactly right for this sort of thing.
How to play
Fly as far as you can without touching anything. Hold to rise, release to fall, and thread the shuttle through each gap. Distance is the score.
Controls
- Hold the left mouse button to climb and release to descend.
- On a touchscreen, press and hold anywhere. Lifting your finger has the same effect as releasing the button.
- There is no second control to learn.
Tips
- Let go just before the ship lines up with a gap rather than once it is already there.
- A series of short taps holds a steady altitude better than one long press followed by a long drop.
- Where two obstacles sit close together, fly the height that suits the second one. The first is easier to clear off-centre.
