About Find Hidden Cats

Everything is drawn in black and white, and that is the decision that makes the game work. With no colour to give a cat away, a tail becomes one line among a thousand others, so the search is a genuine search rather than a scan for something bright. Each picture is a European cityscape crowded with small jokes and incidental detail.

A set of cats hidden in each scene, no clock, no penalty for a wrong tap. The last three or four are the reason to stay. They tend to hide in negative space or sit disguised as part of a building, and turning one up after a long stretch of nothing is the payoff the whole thing is built around.

How to play

Work across the scene and tap each cat you spot to mark it as found. A counter tracks how many remain. Nothing is rushing you and nothing is lost by looking again.

Controls

  • Click a cat to mark it.
  • On a phone or tablet, tap instead. The larger the screen, the easier the fine detail is to pick out.

Tips

  • Sweep the picture in strips rather than jumping to whatever catches your eye. Coverage beats instinct here.
  • Search for pairs of ears and curled tails, since faces are usually turned away or partly hidden.
  • When you stall, check the parts that read as background, such as doorways, chimneys and shop signage.
